Precor Updates and Expands Discovery™ Series Strength Equipment

Breakthrough Advanced Movement Design™ Pieces Appeal to Beginners yet Perform for Seasoned Athletes

Woodinville, WA and San Diego, CA — IHRSA 2014 (Booth #2538) — March 13, 2014 Precor®, a leading commercial and home fitness equipment manufacturer, today introduced the updated and expanded Discovery™ Series Selectorized Line of strength equipment. Designed to appeal to everyone from novices to a club’s strongest members, the 24-piece Discovery Series Selectorized Line includes four pieces that feature Advanced Movement Design™. Advanced Movement Design is a progressive platform that encourages exercisers to challenge their muscles through a wider range of motion. Through core engagement, stabilization and improved joint range of motion, exercisers build more muscle fibers.

“Our new Advanced Movement Design pieces challenge the body in a way that engages more muscles to functionally develop strength and enhanced movement patterns,” said Pete Borchert, Senior Product Manager at Precor. “Working their muscles in this distinct way, exercisers of all abilities – from first time to advanced users – see better results. This leads to increased exerciser satisfaction, retention and frequency of visits.”

The new Discovery Series Selectorized Line includes six new pieces, four of which feature Advanced Movement Design: Diverging Lat Pulldown, Diverging Low Row, Converging Chest Press and Converging Shoulder Press. The two additional new pieces are Seated Calf Extension and Abdominal.

Exclusive to the Discovery Series Selectorized Line, Advanced Movement Design products help exercisers build upon their strength routine over time with added variety and enhanced core stabilization. Movement arms are angled to match the body’s natural movement patterns. The angled exercises reduce joint impingements and allow full muscle contraction for a greater result. Improved ergonomics include handles for pulling exercises that fit comfortably in an exerciser’s hands. The ellipse-shaped handles allow unrestricted movement that follows a user’s natural range of motion. Each piece provides visual instruction instead of text-based placards and needs little or no adjustments, making it easier for anyone to get started.

The entire Discovery Series is designed to make it simple for novices to get started while delivering experienced exercisers the performance they demand. Color-coded cues, low starting weights and QR code instructional videos ensure a beginner knows what to do when he or she engages a piece of equipment. The sturdy construction and range of resistance ensures athletes stay challenged and don’t outgrow machines.
