Preventative Maintenance is a great way to make sure your equipment is performing in peak condition for your exercisers.

When your Precor equipment is covered under a Preventative Maintenance Plan, your local Precor-certified technician will deliver regular scheduled visits to conduct thorough cleaning, testing, and calibration to ensure that critical components are functioning correctly and to identify any potential problems early. This all amounts to more uptime for your equipment.
We offer a variety of service schedules to fit your needs. From monthly to annual arrangements, we are there when you need us to keep your equipment up and running smoothly. When data has shown a direct relationship between equipment uptime and retention*, this is an essential service you can’t afford to go without.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMMES

Equipment Care

Preventative maintenance is essential to extending the life of your equipment, increasing uptime, and maintaining warranty coverage. In-house Precor service engineers perform the procedures listed below by equipment type. For more details on Maintenance Procedures refer to your Service Manual.

Maintenance Schedule for:

Weekly Monthly Quarterly* Semi-Annual**
  • Operation verification.
  • Verify the stop clip is in place and functional.
  • Check the tension and alignment of the running belt. Re-tension or adjust if necessary
  • Check the drive motor brushes, if applicable.
  • Verify unit sits level on floor.
  • Visually inspect the running deck and belt, make sure that the bed or belt is in good condition. Replace if necessary.
  • Check the tension of the drive belt, adjust if necessary.
  • Lubricate lift motor screw.
  • Turn off power switch/circuit breaker and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Inspect the power cord, make sure it is not damaged or underneath the treadmill. Verify the cord clamp is securely installed.
  • Remove hood and vacuum the compartment and motor controller fan.
  • Check speed sensor function.
  • Inspect the power cord, make sure it is not damaged or coiled under the treadmill.
  • Perform functional test to verify all features are performing properly.
  • Perform the software diagnostics, check LED function and record the odometer reading
  • Visually examine all wiring and connectors.
  • Vacuum underneath equipment.
  • Clean the treadmill’s frame using a cloth dampened with an approved cleaning solution. Use a soft nylon scrub brush or a towel to clean the running belt.
  • Functionally test both the wireless and hand held heart rate.
  • Perform the software diagnostics, check LED function, and record the odometer reading.
  • Clean all surfaces
  • Clean the floor underneath the Treadmill.
  • Use a dry towel to clean the running belt and deck.
  • Wipe the surface of the electronic console.
  • Verify the safety lanyard is in place and functional.
  • Inspect visible welds, frame and wire connections.
  • Clean the electronic console with a damp lint free cloth and dry completely.
  • Clean drive belt and pulley with a small wire brush.
  • Clean touch screen console with a diluted solution of one part 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to one part water on a damp lint free cloth and dry completely.
  • Inspect running belt and deck.

IMPORTANT! USE EXTREME CAUTION when the rear cover is removed.
Serious injury could result if fingers are pinched between the flywheel spokes, crank arms, stair arms, and drive weldment.

  • Operation verification.
  • Inspect visible welds, frame and wire connections.
  • Verify torque setting on crank arm and pillow blocks.
  • Verify the battery voltage.
  • Verify unit sits level on floor.
  • Inspect and lube lift motor screw if necessary.
  • Inspect belts for tension and excessive wear.
  • Perform the software diagnostics, check LED function, and record the odometer reading.
  • Vacuum underneath equipment.
  • Remove rear covers and vacuum with a low static vacuum around the electronic board.
  • Lubricate lift motor screw with a synthetic grease.
  • Perform a full functional verification of all programs and settings.
  • Clean all surfaces.
  • Clean drive belts and pulleys.
  • Visually inspect the step-up and drive belts for cracks, fraying, or excessive wear.
  • Use soft nylon scrub brush to clean grooves on foot pedals.
  • Verify the wheels run smoothly on the ramp.
  • Check speed sensor function.
  • Clean the electronic console with a damp lint free cloth and dry completely.
  • Clean the ramps and wheels with an approved solution.
  • Visually examine all wiring and connectors.
  • Clean touch screen console with a diluted solution of one part 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to one part water on a damp lint free cloth and dry completely.
  • Inspect the power cord. Insure that the cord is not pinched under the unit.
  • Functionally test both the wireless and HHHR.
  • Vacuum carpet or “damp mop” the floor underneath the EFX.
  • Verify the HHHR is operational.
  • Record the usage hours.

  • Check the tension of the drives and h-brake belts, adjust if necessary.
  • Verify the battery voltage.
  • Verify unit sits level on floor.
  • Lube lift motor screw.
  • Inspect the gas spring shock.
  • Visually inspect the belts for cracks, fraying or excessive wear.
  • Vacuum underneath equipment.
  • Remove covers and vacuum with a low static vacuum around the electronic board.
  • Clean and lube the rear link bearings (AMT 100i only).
  • Perform the software diagnostics, check LED function, and record odometer reading.
  • Clean all surfaces.
  • Inspect tension and excessive wear on all belts and pulleys.
  • Verify the resistance changes through the entire range
  • Perform full functional verification of all programs and settings.
  • Clean pedals, stairarms, upper arms and grips.
  • Clean grooved drive belts and pulleys with a small wire brush.
  • Check Stride Dial function.
  • Clean the electronic console with a damp lint free cloth and dry completely.
  • Verify the pedals move smoothly in the vertical and horizontal axis.
  • Functionally test both the wireless and HHHR.
  • Clean touch screen console with a diluted solution of one part 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to one part water on a damp lint free cloth and dry completely.
  • Verify the HHHR is operational.
  • Visually examine all wiring and connectors.
  • Record the usage hours.
  • Check the stability of machine if necessary adjust the levelling feet.
Weekly Monthly Quarterly* Semi-Annual**
  • Operation verification.
  • Inspect visible welds, frame and wire connections.
  • Check the tension of the drive belts, adjust if necessary.
  • Verify the battery voltage.
  • Verify unit sits level on floor.
  • Remove covers and vacuum with a low static vacuum around the electronic board.
  • Verify the seat is secure.
  • Validate console calibration to bike and replace console batteries (if applicable).
  • Vacuum underneath equipment.
  • Clean drive belts and pulleys with a small wire brush.
  • Verify the battery charge voltage.
  • Check speed sensor function.
  • Clean all surfaces.
  • Check that pedals turn freely and smoothly at resistance level 1.
  • Functionally test both wireless and HHHR.
  • Clean the electronic console with a damp lint free cloth and dry completely.
  • Inspect the power adapter (if so equipped). Insure that the cord is not pinched under the unit.
  • Visually examine all wiring and connectors.
  • Clean touch screen console with a diluted solution of one part 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to one part water on a damp lint free cloth and dry completely.
  • Verify the seat moves smoothly through the entire adjustment range and the position latch works correctly.
  • Inspect and replace brake pad, if needed.
Weekly Monthly Quarterly* Semi-Annual**
  • Operation verification.
  • Inspect visible welds, frame and wire connections.
  • Inspect stair arms and bumpers for excessive wear
  • Visually inspect the belts for cracks, fraying or excessive wear.
  • Verify unit sits level on floor.
  • Remove covers and vacuum with a low static vacuum around the electronic board.
  • Verify drive belts has proper tension and adjust if necessary
  • Verify the battery voltage
  • Vacuum underneath equipment.
  • Wipe down unit.
  • Inspect springs.
  • Check the pedal belt clamps are torqued properly.
  • Clean all surfaces.
  • Check that pedals move freely and smoothly.
  • Check the pedal stops are in good condition.
  • Perform the software diagnostics, check LED function, and record the odometer reading.
  • Clean the electronic console with a damp lint free cloth and dry completely.
  • Inspect the power adapter (if so equipped). Insure that the cord is not pinched under the unit.
  • Functionally test both wireless and HHHR.
  • Verify the HHHR works correctly.
  • Visually examine all wiring and connectors.

In addition to following the routine maintenance schedule outlined below you will want to do the following daily:

  • Inspect cables and cable ends replacing upon any sign of wear.
  • Check for kinks, frayed wires or deterioration of the cable coating. Look for signs of wear particularly at crimped ends of the cable and near pulleys.

IMPORTANT! Cables must be replaced immediately if they are damaged to avoid possible injury to users.

  • Verify cable tension.
  • Verify unit sits level on floor.

  • Verify the adjustments of seats fully functional and lube.
  • Inspect all weight pins to ensure they are secure.
  • Vacuum underneath equipment.
  • Verify proper tension on all cables.
  • Clean all surfaces.
  • Inspect upholstery and pads for excessive wear.
  • Lube guide rods, bushings, rod ends, linear bearings, shafts and pop pins.
  • Wipe down unit.
  • Inspect cables and cable ends replacing upon any sign of wear.
  • Verify the weight stack pin tether is attached.
  • Verify the instruction placard is attached and intact.
Monthly Quarterly* Semi-Annual**
  • Wipe the screen with an approved solution. (Do not use acidic cleaners).
  • Verify the home page is correctly programmed.
  • Verify the channel line-up matches the facility requirements.
  • Verify the channel up down and volume up down function.
  • Verify the video image is clear on all channels.
  • Verify the decorative cable cover is fully intact and properly aligned.
  • Verify the numeric key pad can be used to change channels.
  • Verify the audio matches the video.
  • Verify the headphone jack works.
