Installation of Precor CV equipment strengthens the eGym member experience at The Hurlingham Club
Renowned as one of the UK’s foremost private members’ clubs, The Hurlingham strives to offer members a first-class experience at every turn.
“Our focus is to continually ensure our members benefit from a superior, sophisticated fitness experience, while having the very best quality equipment that meets their needs and enables them to focus on their goals while working out,” comments David Lester, Gym Superivsor at The Hurlingham Club, London.
Set in 42 acres of magnificent gardens, bordering on the Thames in Fulham and currently celebrating its 150th year, The Hurlingham Club, is continually improving facilities for the enjoyment of its members.
With over 1,500 members actively using the 400 sq m fitness facilities, the club set out to provide gym members with the ability to test their fitness level at the beginning of their exercise journey, as well as on-going, in order to improve the overall gym experience.
Lester continues: “Members have been using eGym strength machines over four years and it was a natural progression to expand this onto the CV equipment.
“We’ve gone to great lengths to ensure our members understand the need for a strength and fitness test at the beginning of the process and believe this additional information from cardio enhances their experience. They appreciate that using the process from the eGym software, which prescribes an individual training programme based on a selected training goal, enables them to make progress whereas before, without the tracking and testing, the outcome was not as positive.
“We wanted a system that would integrate all our machines to improve the member experience across the total gym floor. With members already using and enjoying eGym strength machines and our commitment to eGym, we were prompted to search for a CV supplier that could utilise the eGym system, bringing a cohesive approach across the whole gym offering – Precor was the obvious choice.”
The installation of new Precor cardiovascular equipment, fitted with eGym SmartStart software on the consoles allows members to easily log-on to CV machines using an RFID chip. During inductions on the connected cardio machines, members take a step-by-step physical performance test showing their results as ‘Cardio-Age’. The software uses this to automatically prescribe the individual training programme based on the selected training goal, such as general fitness, body toning, athletic, muscle building, metabolic fit, rehabilitation or weight loss.
Synchronising with the open-cloud platform eGym One and eGym apps, it’s fully immersive, and provides automatic tracking, enabling the club’s members to follow their individual plan, both on the CV or strength equipment.
Lester continues: “With the high levels of members regularly using the fitness facilities, and eGym for tracking and monitoring their fitness levels, it was important for us to be able to accommodate increased numbers, especially during peak times. Precor worked closely with us on the layout of the CV area to enable us to boost the number of machines and fulfil this need.”
Barney Oldfield, Precor Sales Representative for the London area says: ”The Hurlingham Club is a revered members’ club that delivers high-end facilities for its associates/supporters to enjoy. The installation of Precor cardiovascular equipment and its integrated eGym capacity brings a modern connected training concept across the fitness facilities. It enables members to train independently, obtain quick results and instantly see progression.”
With sport and fitness a focus for the members, The Hurlingham Club held a triathlon in the fitness area using Precor Spinner Rally bikes, the swimming pool and the grounds, to celebrate the club’s 150th anniversary.
Oldfield concludes: “Precor was proud to be able to donate the use of Spinner Rally Bikes for this esteemed anniversary celebration enabling members to compete in the triathlon.”
