Fitness SF is a local, family owned gym with five locations in the San Francisco Bay area. Winning a bid over many other gyms, Fitness SF snagged one of the best locations in the city for its sixth location—the bottom floor of a downtown high rise that is also home to the Twitter headquarters.
This new location required they step up their game to become the go-to fitness facility in the area. This move also required them to find ways to get the most out of their equipment, lower their overall business costs and make the facility more profitable.
The new location was a big win for Fitness SF, but they needed to find way to appeal to the new clientele they would attract, including the tech-savvy Twitter employees. Here are a few of the challenges they faced:
- Fitness SF wanted to provide a high-end and personalized fitness experience to appeal to the tech-savvy neighborhood and building.
- They knew installing new equipment wasn’t enough; instead they needed to provide value-added amenities to boost their membership and their profits.
- The team also wanted to deliver a “wow” factor to all potential members with the newer facility; encourage members to workout longer and visit frequently.
Senior Key Account Manager, Jarred Willis, developed a tailored cardio package for the new location that met the needs of their exercisers and the operator. Ultimately, the Fitness SF team purchased 53 pieces of networked cardio equipment, including 19 treadmills, 11 ellipticals, 10 AMTs, five recumbent bikes and five upright bikes. They also installed Preva, the Precor networked fitness solution, onto each cardio unit.
The new equipment increased their operational efficiencies and their decision to include Preva gave them another marketing point for their members and helpful tool for the operators.
With Preva Business Suite, Fitness SF was able to monitor each unit’s usage, including peak hours and downtime to help extend the unit’s lifespan. The technology also allowed them to market their other classes and services through the in-console messaging service.
Overall, choosing Precor equipment has enabled Fitness SF to not only attract new members with state-of-the-art equipment and amenities, but has also allowed them to run an efficient gym while lowering operational costs and increasing profit.
